AUDITIONS for Jazz Orchestra
Auditions usually take place in early to mid February. Auditions are scheduled based on openings (vacancies) in the Jazz Orchestra. Students should download and practice the audition pieces (see below), and prepare the scales. There are 3 ways to audition for Jazz Orchestra:
1. Mr. Conaton will audition any members of the Symphonic Band in class, and any other high school students in SRT. Once high school students have been placed in ensembles, he will audition 8th grade band classes over several days in February.
2. Students can schedule an after-school audition by contacting Mr. Conaton and setting up a time in February.
3. Students can submit a video of themselves performing the scales (as many as possible) and the audition piece to Mr. Conaton via email.
